Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, ANSC, Italia

The Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. The Musical Instruments Museum of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia (MUSA), holds one of the foremost collections of instruments in Italy. The exhibition path runs through the gallery and the other rooms, guiding visitors to the most valuable and important pieces in the collection, which is arranged in groups of instruments of similar shape and construction.

Every single instrument on display at the MUSA . Musical Instruments Museum of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia – more or less 135 object - will be described through audio-video samples, images and texts, both Italian and English. Audiovideo and Audio come from the Concerts archive (live recordings of the Accademia's concert seasons), the CD archives and from the ethno-musicological archives (live recordings taken from 1948 on in different Italian regions and all over the world).
The musical instruments, as a matter of facts, are simply tools for musicians and as such are closely linked to the performance of live performance. Explore the collection may be an opportunity to discover not only the sound of that single instrument, but also the most important musical genres and pieces dedicated to it, through the execution of the musicians of the Academy or the recordings of the live performances stored in the archives of the Institution and to see how the instrument is played, thanks to video shot during the concerts.
